About the Space2 Gallery

Space2 is a programme of exhibitions in spaces across Watford, and was launched in the spring of 2006.

The aim of Space2 is to promote visual art in the widest sense, providing a platform for new and innovative work, showcasing local and national artists. Space2 aims to raise the profile of Watford as a town that is supportive of the visual arts and encourage existing and new audiences to develop their engagement with the arts.

Aware - Ella Carty and Hideki Arichi

Aware

Ella Carty and Hideki Arichi
8th November - 20th December 2014
Open Thursday - Saturday, 10am - 5pm

Aware (pronounced: a-wah-ray) - a Japanese word meaning 'a sensitivity to things'. The word comes from the expression 'Mono no aware' (mo-no no a-wa-ray) which can be translated as 'an empathy toward things' or 'a sensitivity to ephemera'. In this Exhibition, Ella Carty and Hideki Arichi respond to this theme using painting and printmaking, examining this very Japanese idea.
